Artichoke Design provides detailed plans that you can show to different
contractors to find the right company for your needs.   We can help you
evaluate and select contractors, and will oversee construction if you wish.

Since we sell plans not plants, we do not have the bias that for example a
nursery may have -  limiting its designs to the plants and material stocked
in its yard.

Process and prices:
Our design process begins with a 90-minute+  Consultation at the site. We
charge $150 for idea-sharing and a quick landscape sketch plan with a list
of important plants. This may be all that you need!
If not, it can be the
deposit for a full scaled landscape plan and materials list.

Subsequent steps in the process are:

Preliminary Plans includes alternative design ideas as color sketch plans,
perspective views and list of suggested plants and materials*

Construction Documents Include detailed site plans at 1"=8'-0" scale, plant
and materials list showing quantities and sizes, and possibly lighting rough
design* enough information to get quotes from installation companies.

*Every project is different, some are more involved than others, please call
us for an estimated price.

If you are interested in expanding your outdoor living
areas or would like a
garden design for your residence, call us to start the process!  We work in
the greater Philadelphia area including the Main Line and Bucks County
and Montgomery County.

We are a Landscape Architecture Company.

There are several reasons you should hire a
landscape architect rather than a landscape designer.
Experienced and Licensed Landscape Architects:
  • Must complete a 4-year undergraduate program,
    a 2-year apprenticeship, pass a 5-day exam and
once licensed, must earn continuing education
credits each year to maintain their license
  • Are trained in environmental issues, stormwater
    management and horticulture, installation
    techniques and functional design
  • Are licensed to submit grading plans as well as
sedimentation and erosion control plans needed
    for many township permits
  • Are experienced in designing to reduce water
    needs for the landscape
  • and to increase energy efficiency for the building
by creating a unique site layout and planting
    design for each project
